Global warming has become an extremely important issue and it is becoming more and more important to the everyday person. This explains why there are so many people utilizing “green” methods within their homes that range from simply recycling to using electric under floor heating to supplement the traditional gas and electric heating. By using something as under floor heating, a lot of energy is being saved, which means a lot of money is being saved when you heat your home.
Installation of an electric underfloor heating system is quite cost-effective and installation also does not take long. As for how it works, there are duct heaters and heating pads placed under the floor. They come in several different types, such as floor heating cables and mats, ribbon heating mats, carbon film heating strips, and much more. There are many options that will work with the different floor types. It isn’t like the traditional method that involved elevating the floor a couple of inches, having to wait long periods of time for the heating system to heat up, and having to face all of the issues that came with it. This is an entirely different ballgame with electric radiant floor heat.
With this type of electric radiant floor heating, the heating cables that are installed under the floor have what is called twin core resistance wire conductors. There is also a waterproof outer jacket so that you don’t have to worry about spills and moisture getting to the cables, and there is also what is called an earth braid. To heat your home, a current flows through the resistance wires and heats up the cable to a specific temperature. How high the temperature can go depends on who makes the cables. You may find that the range is anywhere between 100 and 200 watts per square meter.
There is also a lot of flexibility with this heating method. You might be quite surprised at how the mats and cables can be placed at any configuration. This ensures that the rooms in the home can be as warm and cozy as possible without the incredible cost.
